outfit translation: orange crush

sweater and necklace - jcrew

Fresh Pond Home in Sag Harbor, Moises Esquenazi Associates

Wore this punchy sweater/necklace combo this weekend... (forgive the awful iPhone photo.)  It's a little brighter than my usual outfit choices, but the gorgeous weather has me adoring color... It feels a tad bit daring and just enough out of the ordinary.  For similar reasons, I am loving this kitchen- with its uniquely colored cabinets, and that rug... a completely unexpected combo that is kitchen perfection in my book.

Happy Monday everyone.

color crush : tangerine

This week I am totally crushing on tangerine, in all shades/tints/hues... bright and saturated or pale and soft, I want it integrated into every part of my day!

color reform

Ever since reading this post, I haven't stopped thinking about these rugs!
How gorgeous are they?  I adore the combination of something so traditional with colors so bright and unexpected... so unique!  Turns out, they sell similar rugs at one of my all time favorite stores, ABC Carpet & Home.  (It's like a wonderland in there... I can't afford anything, but I can't get enough of wandering around!!)

The line of rugs is called Color Reform...they take vintage carpets, remove the color, and then over-dye them in these gorgeous colors.  Each piece is one of a kind... I love them!! I think my favorite is the last image... still an interesting color, but at the same time sort of safe / neutral.
What do you think?

dreaming of

first three images via pinterest... this image via Rachel
All this rain / slush / snow has me longing for Springtime - flowers, ocean breeze-bike rides, bright yellow sunshine, stripes / white jeans / vacation adventures... for now I am pinning as many spring-inspired images as I can find.  It's a crazy week at work but I'm going to try to not be absent here!  Hope you all had lovely beginnings to your week (is it really only Tuesday now?)

And for your Friday viewing pleasure:  a Pinterest round-up... it was a stripey/bold-colored sort of week.

pretty tape

I need to be stopped.  Currently, my Etsy shopping cart is totalling at $29.90... for tape.  Yes, you read that correctly, TAPE.  Do I need it?  Probably not... but it's so pretty, and I'm supporting small business, right?

I'm envisioning a craft project of sorts.... I want to make an inspiration board/tack board for my desk area, and I'm seeing layers or borders of these pretty tapes somehow incorporated.  There's really no telling how this will turn out, but I'm giving it a try.  If it fails, I will have enough pretty tape to last me into the next century, at least.

Inspiration boards like these are what I'm wishing for... going to try to recreate in a smaller way tomorrow.  I'll keep you posted as to how this endeavor works out!

Happy weekend, happy crafting!

lately

Things I can't get off my mind:  the open-ness of the California countryside... colors in nature that are at once hazy and saturated.....  the majestic beauty of mountains, plains and ocean.  Basically I want to give up everything in the city and go live on a farm by the beach... but as that's not exactly feasible at the moment, I'll have to settle for trying to bring that feeling indoors.  I'm thinking a large blown-up photo (loving the image below) and a pale teal/hazy blush/soft mustard color scheme.  Think this could be fabulous layered on whites in a living room...
